# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The sauce thickens right in the slow cooker, so there is no extra pan work at the end.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day when the flavors have had time to deepen and settle.
  • You can swap the protein for chicken or pork and it still turns out beautifully every single time.
02 -
  • Do not skip the cornstarch, without it you will have a thin broth instead of a glossy sauce that clings to the meat.
  • Opening the slow cooker lid adds about 15 minutes of cook time each time, so keep it sealed.
03 -
  • Partially freeze your steak for 20 minutes before slicing and you will get paper thin strips with almost no effort.
  • Choose tamari instead of regular soy sauce if you need a gluten free version, the flavor is nearly identical.
